Abby Sorrells, MA, LPC-S

Abby Sorrells works as a Primary Therapist for Maple Hall. She is a licensed therapist with Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. Over the past two decades, she has developed a profound appreciation for, and interest it, the perinatal field as well as early childhood development. Abby began her residency training in the child welfare system, providing therapy to children and families in the foster care and adoptive systems, and discovered a strong passion and affinity for working with the unique challenges faced by this population.

Abby has spent most of her career working within the field of attachment, which speaks to her at an instinctual level about how we relate to one another and who we are as species. This subspecialty has magnified and deepened her understanding of trauma-informed-care, child development, parenting, and intimate relationships. Through this lens, she has learned the power
of curiosity and has witnessed the profound healing and growth that can happen within the context of relationships. Abby believes that change is always possible and that resiliency can be
nurtured, even in the most difficult circumstances.

Abby has two children, and she and her husband can often be found at their baseball games and horseback riding lessons. She adores watching her children grow and change at each stage of
development, and is frequently surprised by them. They are constant reminders to her of the importance of ‘play’ at each developmental stage.
